Who needs to request
If you are selling property in New South Wales and have an outstanding land tax liability, you will need an assessment notice to clear the charge before or at settlement.
Revenue NSW starts sending assessment notices to landowners from January each year.
You can request an urgent assessment notice if you:
have not received your current year notice, and
need a notice to proceed with settlement.

Note
For property settlements in January, you can request an early issue of your assessment notice in December. Follow the steps below to request an early issue.
When to request
You can request an urgent assessment at any time during the year.
You do not need to request a new assessment notice if:
you have already received an assessment in January, and
the details on the assessment are correct, such as land owned, and exemptions applied.
Request your urgent notice when you know the settlement date of your property sale.
