Payment of duty

Transfer duty payments are either disbursed via Electronic Lodgement Network Operators (ELNO) to Revenue NSW, or paid directly to Revenue NSW.

On this page

Revenue NSW is aware of scams related to duty payments and communications between you and your solicitor or conveyancer. Stay vigilant and verify any payment requests with your solicitor or conveyancer.

Revenue NSW will never ask for duty payments to be made using bank account details provided in an email.

Prior to making any online payments, refer to the pay your transfer duty page to confirm Revenue NSW bank account details.

The Duties Notice of Assessment displays the due date for payment and our electronic payment methods e.g. EFT, BPAY.

Payment through an Electronic Lodgment Network Operator (ELNO)

When you settle via an ELNO, the duty payable and interest (if applicable) is displayed in the ELNO Financial Settlement Schedule.

You pay this amount as an electronic disbursement from the ELNO.

Duty must be paid by the due date on the Duties Notice of Assessment. Where payment is not made on or before the due date, interest will continue to accrue until the payment is received by us at settlement. On the day of settlement, an automatic duties verification updates the interest payable in the ELNO workspace.

What if settlement is rescheduled?

If settlement is rescheduled, you must update the settlement date in the ELNO workspace and verify duty. If settlement is after the payment due date, interest will accrue until the payment is received by us.

Payments options for non-ELNO transactions

You, or your client, can pay using the payment methods displayed on the Duties Notice of Assessment

For all transactions, duty must be paid by the due date on the Duties Notice of Assessment. Where payment is not made on or before the due date, interest will accrue until payment is received by us. Your EDR service may be suspended if your payment is not received on time.  Allow up to two business days for the payment to be processed.
