Refunds to overseas bank accounts
The instructions on this page are for tax refunds to Australian bank accounts.

Who is eligible
You will be eligible for a land tax or surcharge land tax refund when your tax account with Revenue NSW is in credit.
Your account may be in credit for a range of reasons, including the following:
You paid your tax in full:
and then had an exemption application approved by Revenue NSW
by the due date on your assessment notice and we applied a 0.5% discount, or
before advising us that you sold one of the properties included on your assessment notice.
You made a payment error.
A change in the land value of your property.
Revenue NSW will send you a notification to tell you when you are eligible for a refund.
A refund for credit amounts is available until your next assessment notice is issued.
If you do not apply for the credit to be refunded before your next assessment notice, your credit will be automatically deducted from your next land tax bill.
Have you made a payment error?
If you have paid the wrong tax account, Revenue NSW may be able to transfer the payment to the correct tax account.
You will need to provide your valid BSB and bank account number.
The account provided must be in the landowner’s name.
We may contact companies, trusts and partnerships by phone to check the refund details if the bank details provided do not match the landowner’s name(s).
In Land Tax Online, check your details then select Continue.
Select Manage land tax.
The Land tax overview page confirms the amount available for a refund. See the Payments box.
Select Payments then Request a refund.
Note
If you do not have a credit available, you will be unable to complete this process.

Add refund account
Select the Add a Refund account button.
Add your BSB number, account number and the account name.
Select Save.

Confirm and submit
Tick the box that confirms that all information provided is true and correct in every particular
Select Submit.
A green box with Refund successfully requested confirms that your request has been received.
What happens next
We will review all your land tax accounts to determine if you have any other outstanding liabilities. We may reallocate your credit to another account that you are responsible for.
Typically, we take up to 5 business days to approve and process your refund.
