Find out if you're eligible for home buyers’ assistance

14 July 2023

We are making it easier for house hunters to check if they are eligible for the three NSW Government programs that assist home buyers.

The new Home Buyer Assistance Finder is an online tool on nsw.gov.au that will guide you through a series of questions about the property you want to buy, including:

  • who you want to buy it with
  • what other property you own
  • when you want to move in, and
  • how much you want to spend.

The finder will then assess your eligibility for the main programs, giving you an indication of whether you should apply. The finder assesses you for:

First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme

Eligible first home buyers receive a full or partial exemption on transfer duty when purchasing their first home.

First Home Owner's Grant (New Homes)

Eligible first home buyers who buy a brand-new home or a land and building package receive a $10,000 grant.

Shared Equity Home Buyer Helper

Helps eligible key workers looking to buy their first home, single parents and older singles who would otherwise not be approved for a mortgage purchase their own home.
