Overview

We want to assist you to meet your payroll tax obligations and ensure you do not miss payments when there is leave, financial difficulty or unexpected changes in your business.

Payroll tax lodgement dates are set by legislation. You must pay payroll tax by the due date to avoid interest and penalty being applied to late payments.

What is a Correspondence ID

Whenever you need to log in to Payroll Tax Online you are required to use your Client ID and Correspondence ID.


The correspondence ID issued as a result of your annual return lodgement expires in October of the following year. That is why it is important to use the most recent Correspondence ID issued to you, to guarantee successful login and lodgement.

Paying on time with the estimate method

The estimate method is available to monthly lodgers and involves entering an estimate of your taxable wages in Payroll Tax Online. It makes lodging your payroll tax easy and means you will not miss a payment.

You may use the estimate wages method for a one-off calculation, or you can set this amount for future months.

Not paying by the due date

If you cannot pay your payroll tax, it is important that you contact us before the due date so we can discuss with your options and work with you to meet your obligations.

If you don’t pay by the due date interest and/or a penalty may be applied.
