Refunds to overseas bank accounts
The instructions on this page are for refunds to Australian bank accounts. Contact us if your refund needs to go to an overseas bank account.
When you may be eligible for a refund
You may be eligible for a refund when your parking space levy account with Revenue NSW is in credit. This can happen if:
you accidentally overpay the levy using an online payment service
your levy is reassessed and adjusted to a lower amount after you’ve already paid
Revenue NSW identifies an error during an investigation and issues an assessment notice showing a refund is due
you make a payment to the wrong parking space levy account.
Payments made to the wrong account
If you’ve accidentally paid to the wrong parking space levy account, we may be able to transfer the payment to the correct account. Contact us for help or more information.
When to request a refund
If your parking space levy account with Revenue NSW is in credit, you can apply for a refund once the credit has been confirmed.
You can request a refund for any credit on your account before your next assessment notice is issued.
What banking information you need to provide
To request a refund, you’ll need to provide your BSB and bank account number through Parking Space Levy Online Services.
The bank account must be:
an Australian bank account, and
in the name of the parking space owner (person or entity).
If the parking space owner is a company, trust or partnership, and the bank account name does not match the entity name, we may contact you by phone or email to confirm your refund details.

Do not upload personal documents to keep your sensitive information safe
Revenue NSW is bound by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP). We are committed to protecting your personal information, so please do not upload documents which include sensitive details including:
credit card details
bank card details
bank account numbers
tax file numbers
personal and health information not required for tax administration.

Enter your submitter details
The details you provide on the ‘Submitter details’ screen are used to identify you when updating or making changes to this client ID. These details will not update your Revenue NSW contact details.
Enter your name, email address and contact number
Select Continue

View credit amount and navigate menu
On the ‘Overview’ screen, review the credit amount showing in the ‘Payments’ box - this is the amount available for a refund. 1
Select Payments
Read the information in the ‘Declaration’ pop-up window. Select I agree if you agree to the declaration.
Select Refund account details
1 If you do not have a credit showing on your account, you cannot request a refund.

Add or edit refund account
To add or edit bank account details for the refund:
On the ‘Refund details’ screen, select Add account or Edit account
Enter or update the BSB number, Account number, and Account name for the bank account you want your refund sent to. 2
Tick the checkbox to declare that all information provided is true and correct.
Select Save

Review and submit
Review the information in the ‘Bank account details’ table to ensure it is correct.
Select Submit
A green notification ‘Account successfully updated’ will appear to confirm that your refund request has been successfully submitted.
What happens after you request a refund
We will review your parking space levy account to determine if you have any other outstanding liabilities. We may reallocate your credit to any outstanding liability that you are responsible for.
Refunds are usually approved and processed within 5 business days. Refunds for larger amounts may take longer.
