Who needs to register for parking space levy
You must register for parking space levy if you own or acquire property that:
includes one or more off-street parking spaces, and
is located in a leviable district within one of the following suburbs:
Category 1 - Sydney CBD and North Sydney
Category 2 - Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Parramatta, and St Leonards.
Registration is required even if an exemption may apply.
If you have previously registered for parking space levy and received a letter with your client ID and correspondence ID details, you do not need to register again. Simply log into Parking Space Levy Online Services to manage your parking space levy.
When you need to register for parking space levy
You must register for parking space levy with Revenue NSW as soon as you become the owner of the leviable property, if you have not previously registered. Liability for parking space levy begins on the first 1 July occurring on or after the property settlement date.
Read the information on the ‘Before you begin’ screen
Select Next to declare all of the following:
you are the property owner or an authorised representative
you have been given the opportunity to read the Revenue NSW privacy collection notice and privacy policy
all information you will provide is true and correct.
Complete the security check in the pop-up window

Enter name details of property owner(s)
The name(s) you enter should match the owner name(s) listed on the property title.
On the ‘Name details’ screen, select Add name
Choose either Yes or No to indicate whether you are registered with Revenue NSW for another tax type (such as land tax) and have an existing client ID.
If you chose Yes, enter your client ID and select Retrieve client ID
If you chose No –
in the Name type drop-down menu, select the type of property owner you are registering for
complete all fields shown for your selected name type
Select Save
At the bottom of the ‘Name details’ screen, select Next

Enter postal address
The postal address you provide may be different from the address of the parking space that you are registering with Revenue NSW.
On the ‘Postal address’ screen, choose the Postal address format from the drop-down menu.
Complete all applicable fields shown for your selected address format.
Select Next

Enter contact details
The contacts you add will be authorised to receive information from Revenue NSW about your account. Make sure to add the primary contact person as Revenue NSW will use this contact information to resolve any queries on your account.
On the ‘Contact details’ screen, select Add new contact
Enter Name, Contact type, Phone number, Mobile number, and Email address
Select Save
At the bottom of the ‘Contact details’ screen, select Next

Select communication preference
You can choose to receive your parking space levy notices by email or post.
On the ‘Communication preference’ screen, select Add communication preference
Choose from either Email or Post for communication method
If Email is selected, enter your Email address and Name details 1
If Post is selected, review your Postal address to make sure it is correct
Select Save2
At the bottom of the ‘Communication preference’ screen, select Next
1 If you select email, we’ll send a verification email. You must verify your email address using the link provided before it can be used for Revenue NSW communications. If you do not verify your email address, Revenue NSW communications will be sent to your postal address instead.
2 If an error appears, ensure there is no space at the end of the name or email address you entered.

Enter property details
On the ‘Property details’ screen, select Add property
Enter the Land titles office ID or Valuer General property ID, then select Retrieve address3
Enter the settlement date of the property purchase and number of parking spaces on the property
If the property was sold, enter the settlement date of the property sale
Select Save
At the bottom of the ‘Property details’ screen, select Next

Complete submitter details
These are the details of the person submitting the registration form, which may be different from the property owner.
On the ‘Submitter’s details’ screen, choose either Yes or No to indicate whether you are completing the registration on behalf of a property owner.
If you chose Yes, select the type of authorised representative you are and enter your contact details
If you chose No, review your details to make sure they are correct
Select Next

Review and submit
Review the information for your registration to ensure they are correct
If you need to update any information, select the Edit button directly below the details you want to change
Tick each checkbox to confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to each declaration
Select Submit
What happens after you register
After completing your registration, your client ID and correspondence ID may be displayed on screen. You can use these details to log in to Parking Space Levy Online Services.
If the information you submit requires further review, we will send you a notice with the details you need to access Parking Space Levy Online Services.
How you receive this notice depends on the communication preference you selected during registration. If you selected:
Email as your communication preference and have verified your email address, your notice will be sent by email.
Email as your communication preference but did not verify your email address, your notice may be sent by post.
Post as your communication preference, your notice will be sent by post.
The notice will include your client ID and correspondence ID. You’ll need these details to log in to Parking Space Levy Online Services and lodge your annual return.
You must lodge an annual return after you have registered
Once you have registered for parking space levy and received your client ID and correspondence ID, you must lodge an annual return with Revenue NSW.
If you purchase a parking space during the year, your levy liability will begin from 1 July after acquisition.
Annual returns are due by 1 September for each year that you are liable for parking space levy. This process allows you to:
provide details about your leviable parking spaces
apply for any available exemptions (if eligible)
choose how you want to pay the levy.
To lodge an annual return, you’ll need to log into Parking Space Levy Online Services using your client ID and correspondence ID. Read instructions on how to lodge an annual return or claim an exemption for parking space levy.
By submitting a parking space levy registration, you are confirming you have legal consent to obtain and provide information on behalf of the property owner and are an authorised person or approved representative.
If you do not have authority to act on behalf of the property owner, the property owner must contact us to provide authority or obtain their log in credentials.
