Transfer duty website improvements from 27 May

27 May 2026

Find the right transfer duty information more easily, with clearer guidance, improved navigation and better access to tools.

On this page

Revenue NSW has updated its transfer duty webpages and refreshed the Property Professionals Resource Centre (PPRC).

Most existing bookmarks will still work, but some guide links may have changed.

Why we made these changes

We listened to feedback from customers and property professionals and updated the content to make transfer duty information easier to find, understand and use.

What is new

What is not changing

There is no change to transfer duty obligations, legislation or systems, or how duty is calculated, lodged and paid.

Key changes for property professionals

  • Updated Property Professionals Resource Centre (PPRC) has a new look and feel and is easier to access from the transfer duty webpages. The content within the guides remains largely unchanged, with videos and webinars now conveniently located within the relevant topic guides.
  • More detailed proof of identity and foreign status guidance (formerly known as client ID and proof of status) clarifies that foreign status documents are only needed where there may be a surcharge purchaser duty liability. Guidance is organised by liable party and property type, with examples outlining document requirements at each level of tracing for both corporations and trusts.
  • More guidance is now available as web pages, including Directions for using Electronic Duties Returns (EDR) and Guide to cancelling EDR transactions, making content easier to view, search and use across devices. Application forms and the Duties Document Matrix remain in PDF.
  • Current updates are easier to find through news on the PPRC landing page. Older EDR and eDuties updates have been archived, and videos and webinars are now in the relevant topic guides.
  • Forms and the Duties Document Matrix have been updated to reflect the website changes and references to proof of identity and foreign status requirements.
  • Clearer guidance on what to do when notified of an investigation or audit on the Duties Compliance Portal is now available.
  • Check your bookmarks because some URLs may have changed.
