Register for payroll tax

If you or the company you represent has wages that exceed the payroll tax threshold, you will need to register for payroll tax.

Annual reconciliation

The due date to lodge your payroll tax annual reconciliation and payment is 21 July or the next business day.

The due date for 2017-18 annual reconciliation lodgement and payment is Monday, 23 July 2018.

Monthly calculator

The monthly calculator assists you to work out your monthly tax payable. You do not have to submit this calculation.

Important: Your monthly payment (July to May) or 'nil' remittance is due seven days after the end of each month, or the next business day if the seventh day is a weekend or public holiday.

Payroll tax online

If you are registered for payroll tax, you can use Payroll tax online to:

  • lodge your nil return
  • change your details, including grouping and banking
  • register for online payment
  • cancel your registration and direct debit payments
  • view your payment history, return history summary, payment options and payment codes.

You can log in using your AUSkey, which is a secure login that identifies you when you use participating government online services on behalf of a business. We do not permit intermediaries to use AUSkey to log in on behalf of clients.
