How solicitors, conveyancers and accountants can register for online services, Electronic Duties Returns (EDR) and eDuties.
About online services
Solicitors, conveyancers and accountants can register for the online services of Electronic Duties Returns (EDR) and eDuties.
By registering for EDR solicitors and conveyancers can:
Accountants can self-assess:
- discretionary trust deeds
- family trust deeds
- unit trust deeds
- security trusts, and
- superannuation bare trusts – Section 62B.
Transactions that cannot be processed on EDR must be submitted to Revenue NSW via eDuties. Firms wanting to apply for both services only need to make an application for EDR.

If you do not wish to use our digital services, eDuties or EDR, you will need to engage a settlement agent to lodge or process matters on your behalf.

The following EDR options are available through the CSP interface on their website.

- Duties Notice of Assessment Reissue
- Return Period Invoice
- Cancel Duties Assessment
Costs
There are no costs imposed by Revenue NSW to become an EDR client. However, there are costs associated with CSP services.

Register for EDR
To become an EDR client, you must:
- Engage an approved Client Service Provider (CSP).
- Download our Directions for using Electronic Duties Return (PDF, 1556.26 KB) for an explanation on how to use EDR and the functions available.
- Register for EDR online.
The following information is required for registration:
- ABN
- Business details
- Name and contact details of the approval holder, primary contact and authorised staff
- Details of the professional association and memberships (e.g. Law Society and AIC)

- Verify the email address.
After submitting the application, the approval holder will receive a request to verify their email address. The registration cannot progress until the verification has been completed.

Next steps
Once your application is received, we will contact you to discuss your registration and training requirements.
When your application is approved, you will receive a Notice of Approval of Special Tax Return Arrangement with instructions on the next steps required to activate your account.
The Chief Commissioner may approve or reject any application.
